New Video: Love Song for No One (John Mayer Cover)

I wasn't sure I liked this song until I heard him do it live with just an acoustic - then I loved it. So, I figured it out. I hope you enjoy.

Wow - that's beautiful! Could you put this in mp3 format so I can add it to my Benjamin playlist? You nailed the vocals and guitar pieces for this. =)

Still sounds local. Challenge yourself, homie. (I noticed my last comment about being local wasn't included in your comments. Whatever, I still listen. Live in the now, man. Social Web 2008. Gotta take into consider what *everyone* is saying, not just those who are directly related to you. (Unless you're G.W. Bush.))

Thanks.

Rightblank - not sure what other comment you are talking about, but I don't censor them or remove any.

I am not totally sure what you are trying to say, but I am interested - drop me an email, or IM me (benjamincostello) sometime.

Peace man.

I check your blog periodically and commented about you sounding "local" for a song/post you did in the past.

At the time, I checked the comments for the post - not sure when it was now - and my comment never appeared. I assumed you moderated and didn't let that one through. From memory now, I actually wrote a pretty comprehensive comparison to other artists, e.g. Damien Rice, with respect to the song played. (However, if I now don't remember it, goes to show I was somewhat accurate.) (And, yes, I prefer simply honesty.)

Maybe my bad. I just never saw it. (Just because I figured out how to post now doesn't mean I did then.)

This one sounds a little contrived - like you "figured it out" and posted without adding the spirit of the "the dogs are keeping my mind off trying so hard." Nice, but not the best example of yours I've heard.

Anyway, nice Rufus in the other post, man.

Peace back atcha with a spot of esteem.

Sorry that last comment was from me, Rightblank. :)

Meant to sign but maybe I'm a little contrived myself.

Hey man - I appreciate the honesty. In fact, you are pretty much dead-on with this song / recording. It's a style of guitar playing that is outside of my comfort zone, and it doesn't really sit in my voice as well as others.

It was kind of a challenge to myself to learn it as I really loved the acoustic version that John Mayer did, and wished that I could play in that style, so I spent a considerable amount of time figuring it out and practicing it (more than most tunes I play).

I think at the end of the day, it is definitely not one of my best performances. I'm kind of looking at the whole process as a learning experience and sharing it with others along the way. Hopefully when my album comes out, it will be spot on :)

Re your previous comments - any chance they were on my site to various songs (esp. wolf at the door), but not on my blog? I don't remember your name, but I do remember something that I didn't approve for a long time because the email notifications broke hehe. Anyhow - if that was you - it is all there - I just didn't know it was until I stumbled onto it.

Alas - thanks for your thoughts, and for visiting, and for the comments on One Man Guy :)

Have a great weekend man.
Benjamin
